The Company makes the charm of dance accessible to over 150,000
(live and through media) New Jerseyans every year and maintains
a repertory of exceptional breadth and quality. It's reputation
for artistic excellence has attracted a considerable number of
major dance works which have been premiered in New Jersey. During
its 30-week season, New Jersey Ballet performs works ranging from
classical, to contemporary, to cutting-edge, as well as those geared
especially for young audiences. Its repertory includes works choreographed
by some of the greatest names in the world of dance - Balanchine,
deMille, Tudor, Nebrada, North, Pourfarrokh, Taras, Sappington,
Renvall, Tomal, Vernon, Vesak, Petipa, Chabukiany, Saint Leon,
and Bournonville.
The Company's Artistic Advisors include 3 of the greatest international
dancers of this century Edward Villella, Eleanor D'Antuono and
Leonid Kozlov who coach the dancers in much of the repertory they
danced with New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and the
Bolshoi.
A high point of the year is Nutcracker at the Paper Mill Playhouse
with the Paper Mill Orchestra. Celebrating its 32nd anniversary
this year, the production has become a holiday tradition. Other
performance locations include the John Harms Center, Englewood
and the Cape May Performing Arts Center in Cape May Court House.

Also scheduled each season are selections from one of the nation's
most extensive repertories for young audiences. These fully-staged
New Jersey Ballet productions of well-known fairy tales are presented
with "storyteller" narration, providing children with
an easy-to-follow introduction to the magic of dance.
Dance, choral, opera, and symphony audiences alike have enjoyed
New Jersey Ballet performances with the New Jersey Symphony, New
Jersey State Opera, and over 50 other major performing arts organizations
in the state. During the 1990's New Jersey Ballet established an
international reputation for excellence with its enthusiastically
received tours of Taiwan, the Soviet Union, Bermuda and Italy.
-- and features principal dancers and soloists of international
stature from the United States, Russia, Bulgaria, South America,
Mongolia and Japan.
The Company made a most successful debut at NJPAC in Prudential
Hall in May of 1998 and returned for a 2nd gala when it presented
its full length production of Sleeping Beauty with the New Jersey
Symphony Orchestra in April, 1999. In May of 2000, the Company
presented the premiere of For Ella by Margo Sappington, Western
Sweet by Michael Vernon and four classical pas de deux demonstrating
the Company's wide range of style and versatility.
To bring world-class ballet to New Jersey, to raise the state's
cultural profile here and abroad, and to enrich the quality of
life in the state have always been the company's priorities.
