2009-2010 Season Announced

By News on Thursday, September 10 2009

The new season schedule is filled with premieres, revivals and celebrations. Among the highlights is the November 7 Opening Night at The Community Theatre; the company’s return to Kean University in March; and the big 51st Anniversary festivities on Saturday March 13 at NJPAC.

There is no better way to introduce children to the magic of dance theatre than NJB’s productions for Kids and FamiliesSM. There are no fewer than five opportunities to see NJB’s highly acclaimed Sleeping Beauty (both the Kids & FamiliesSM edition and the full length classical ballet). Cinderella is fast becoming a mini-Nutcracker, with a loyal following that returns to see it every year. This season, young Cinderella fans and their families will be greeted by a fresh new look to the scenery and a brand new Pumpkin Coach, thanks to a grant from the Hyde and Watson Foundation.

NJB will perform one or both of these beautiful fairy tale ballets at venues throughout North and Central New Jersey. Check the calendar page for dates at Union County PAC in Rahway, Sussex County Community College in Newton, The Community Theatre in Morristown, Kean University in Union, bergenPAC in Englewood and Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch.

In December, the company will perform its beloved Nutcracker at bergenPAC, Middle Township PAC (Cape May) and of course, in its home theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, where the show will mark its 39th season with a 12-performance run beginning December 18.

On the heels of last year’s sold-out performances in Newton, NJB will return to Sussex County Community College on March 16. The following weekend will find the company back on the Wilkins Theatre stage at Kean University.

Save the date-- Saturday March 13—for this year’s Anniversary Gala performance at NJPAC. As the season gets under way, look for more information on these and other performance dates around the state on this web site.
