By brian on Friday, May 13 2011

This fresh new celebration of Latino culture features works representing Mexico, Brazil and Cuba, including two premieres, Suite Huasteca and Tamoia, and the return of two great audience-pleasers -- Guajira and Para Dois.

Suite Husateca, an ambitious work by Mexican-American David Fernandez, will feature live music by the Cesar Chavez Quartet and composer Jesus Echevarria, plus striking projected backdrops by Mexican artist Gabriela Rosado Rivera.  Suite Huasteca is being developed with the support of the Mexican Cultural Institute in New York and the office of the Consul General of Mexico.

Tamoia, is a high-voltage contemporary piece by award-winning Brazilian choreographer Humberto Teixeira, who combines the various cultures alive in Brazil --  European, African and indigenous --  in an electrifying contemporary ballet.
