New Jersey Ballet presents “Gershwin at the Ballet” with guest artists Rio Clemente, The Bishop of Jazz, and vocalist Susan Speidel

New Jersey’s foremost dance company and America’s favorite composer are a match made in heaven. And on January 12, ballet and music fans will be able to indulge in 2 hours of heavenly dance, music and song at the beautifully renovated Community Theatre in Morristown.
Gershwin at the Ballet features the NJB revival of Balanchine’s Who Cares?, staged by former New York City Ballet star Judith Fugate and presented by arrangement with the Balanchine Trust. Also on the program: 2 exciting premieres; Rhapsody in Blue by former NYCB soloist and inventive choreographer Alexandre Proia, and Porgy & Bess Suite by Victor Plotnikov, Vaganova- trained former principal of Boston Ballet.

Master jazz pianist Rio Clemente, known as The Bishop of Jazz, will perform his keyboard magic on a medley of great Gershwin tunes. And one of New Jersey’s favorite vocalists, Susie Speidel, will belt out some of the master’s Broadway tunes..
