Bollywood "Nutcracker"
"Nutcracker" comes early
to India, as dancers from New Jersey Ballet bring excerpts
from the company's classical staging to the newly opened National
Center for the Performing Arts in Mumbai. The performances, Saturday
and Sunday, September 22 and 23, will feature New Jersey Ballet
principal dancers Saule Rachmedova and Tuvshin Bold, along with
Michelle deFremery, Sergio Amarante, Jeffery Hover and Vladimir
Roje and children from Shaimak Davar's Institute for Performing
Arts in Mumbai. Aidar Torybaev will conduct the Symphony Orchestra
of India.
After their return home,
the dancers will begin rehearsing for New Jersey Ballet's repertory
performances and for the statewide tour of its acclaimed “Nutcrackers," which
marks its 36th anniversary this season.
