Designed for families, curious minds, and first-time audience members, this experience offers a behind-the-scenes look at how professional dancers train, rehearse, and perform. Meet New Jersey Ballet artists and discover the strength, discipline, and artistry that brings ballet to life on stage.
Through live demonstrations and performance excerpts, children will learn how dancers develop their technique, build strength and flexibility, and work together to tell stories through movement. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore some of the essential tools of a dancer's craft, including costumes, pointe shoes, dance flooring, and other items used everyday in the studio and on stage.
Along the way, dancers will share personal insights into their training and careers, offering a unique glimpse into the dedication and passion required to become a professional artist.

Go behind the curtain with New Jersey Ballet Artistic Director Maria Kowroski for an intimate evening of conversation, performance, and artistic discovery.
Join us at the Morris Museum as Maria Kowroski shares insights into New Jersey Ballet's upcoming 2026–2027 season and reflects on the experiences that have shaped her artistic vision. A former principal dancer with New York City Ballet for more than 25 years, Kowroski performed many of the most celebrated works in the classical and contemporary ballet repertoire while working closely with some of the world's leading choreographers and artistic innovators.
Through conversation and live performance excerpts by New Jersey Ballet artists, audiences will gain a unique perspective on the creative process behind building a season, selecting repertory, nurturing dancers, and honoring ballet's rich traditions while embracing new artistic voices.
The program will feature selections from George Balanchine's spirited Stars & Stripes Pas de Deux, Penny Saunders' acclaimed Sur le Fil, and additional works that highlight the breadth and versatility of New Jersey Ballet's repertory.
